The Venus Community Cats Story

Venus Community Cats is a cat rescue project based in Lion’s Head, Ontario, dedicated to controlling the stray and feral cat population across the Bruce Peninsula. 100% of donations received go directly back to the cats and kittens we help. We are 100% volunteer run.

Our roots began in 2025 with a colony of 65 cats – what we refer to as the Venus Cat Family Project. Community members on the Bruce Peninsula worked tirelessly for many months – volunteering their time, and donating food, supplies and financial support for medical care. All 65 cats and kittens were neutered or spayed and either returned to the colony (where they are cared for by a local family), or adopted out to loving forever homes.

As the Venus Family Cat Project came to a successful end, the team evolved into Venus Community Cats.

Our first priority is preventing population growth. We do this by facilitating spay and neuter surgeries for stray and feral cats.

Our second priority is providing these cats with a better and easier life. We do this by assessing each individual cat and deciding the best future for them.

In many cases, we will bring cats or kittens into foster care, where experienced foster families work on socializing them and getting them ready for adoption. When necessary, feral cats with a dedicated caregiver may be returned to their colony after being fixed. In other cases, feral cats may be brought into our working cats program so we can find them an appropriate long-term home (such as a farm or shop), where they will receive the care and shelter they need, but will continue to have their freedom.

We are always looking for volunteers to help with our efforts. If you would like to support our work by volunteering your time, please check out the many ways you can help.
