Little Joy truly lives up to her name. One of 13 cats rescued from the Buttercup colony, she was the one who seemed to seek out human connection most of all – even while living outdoors. For Little Joy, being close to people wasn’t just something she tolerated; she wanted to belong.

Little Joy is still learning that being picked up is safe (you may notice a little body shake as she adjusts), but once she settles in, she is all about affection. She loves to cuddle, and kisses are like candy to her! She thrives on attention and will do best with someone who is happy to give her plenty of love, reassurance, and companionship as she continues to blossom.

Little Joy is a wonderful example of the special rewards that come with adopting an adolescent cat. She has the youthful playfulness and curiosity of a young cat, without the constant demands of a tiny kitten, and her emerging personality gives you a beautiful glimpse of the companion she is becoming. Adopting an adult or adolescent cat can be a truly rewarding experience. Unlike kittens, they won’t turn your house upside down with endless energy. While kittens require plenty of teaching, supervision, and active play, adult and adolescent cats tend to have better manners, need less intensive playtime, and are more comfortable entertaining themselves. And because their personalities are already more developed, you’ll have a much better sense of who they are when you bring them home.
